Job overview

You will be working with a multi-disciplinary care team to ensure that the patient’s rehabilitation journey is individualised, and goals are achieved by the patients to reach their optimum level to return to their own home or suitable placement sourced whilst embodying the Trust’s values.  We also provide end of life care to patients approaching their last days and weeks of life.

Tarrant Ward supports student nurse placements and return to nursing students and all staff are encouraged to contribute to a learning environment. Additionally, we have links with Bournemouth University where there is the opportunity to undertake specialist modules.

You will need enthusiasm and a commitment to provide the highest standards of care to patients, relative and carers, and the ability to provide professional clinical leadership. You will need to have an interest in working with older people and have good communication and organisational skills.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals

We are looking for a Staff Nurse to join our team. Full time and part time hours available.

We are a 25 bedded ward and provide sub-acute medical care, rehabilitation, Palliative / End of Life care for the local community and also ambulatory care.  We are committed to providing excellent standards of care for our patients and we know that to enable us to do this, the continuous professional development of staff in a supportive environment has to be a top priority for us and it is!

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to develop relationships with patients, carers and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current developments in nursing
  • Have a good working knowledge of Clinical Governance and the National Service Frameworks.
Desirable criteria
  • Expanded role including venepuncture, IV drugs, Cannulation, Defibrillation
  • Experience of research or audit.

Skills / Experience/ Knowledge

  • A commitment to evidence based practice and life-long learning.
