Clinical Psychologist

Band 8a

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic Clinical Counselling /  Psychologists to join the Adult Psychology Service.

As part of the Dorset Adult Psychology Service, you will work with other friendly and dedicated psychologists/therapists to provide specialist psychological services for adults CMHTs in Dorset.

The role is diverse and allows opportunities to develop your own individual therapy skills, work on service development, continue with your professional development, and work with a range of really skilled professionals who are all passionate about working with adults.  Clinical work covers a whole range of different problems with which patients may present, as well as skilled and often complex assessments.    Consultation and supervision of other professionals from within the OPP team, as well as the wider MDT is a regular part of our role.

Both posts  are 37.5 hours per week (job share considered) and one  is based at Kings  Park Hospital,  Bournemouth whilst the second is  at  various  locations across East Dorset.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

Main duties of the job

Skilled in assessment, formulation, and in the delivery of appropriate highly specialised
programmes of care, including psychotherapy, where highly complex facts must be
considered, and where expert opinion may differ.

Provide highly specialised advice to clients, their families and carers where appropriate, and
to staff of the community team and other organisations where involved in care.

The psychologist will support the Poole, Purbeck, Wimborne, Christchurch and
Bournemouth Adult Community Mental Health Teams.

The psychologist will be responsible for developing highly specialised programmes of care.
Judgements need to be made involving highly complex facts or situations, which require the
analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.

If you are interested in moving to Dorset there is also the possibility of a relocation package which can be discussed in interview.  For further details on relocation expenses please email [email protected]
