Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the cardiac nurse specialist team for a 23 month fixed term/ secondment. The team is made up of highly skilled cardiac advanced clinical practitioners and specialist nurses in electrophysiology, heart failure and acute coronary syndrome.
The cardiology department have recently been successful in a British Heart Foundation (BHF) grant to provide an innovative project in secondary prevention lipid management therefore we are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated cardiac nurse specialist to join our service at University Hospital Dorset.
The position will require the post holder to work in variety of settings within the cardiac directorate but the main purpose of this role will be to help run, support and establish a secondary prevention cardiology lipid clinic. The aim following national guidelines is to optimise lipid management both through primary and secondary care clinics providing expert knowledge to other health care professionals as well as patients ensuring a shared decision making process.
The shift patterns and times will vary according to the needs of the service. The role will require working across site between Poole General Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Main duties of the job
To help develop and deliver a secondary prevention nurse led lipid clinic. To understand all aspects of the role in more detail please read the full job description and person specification documents which are attached to this advert.
The role will also involve as required pre assessment of patients due to have percutaneous intervention, supporting investigations such as stress/ trans oesophageal echocardiography and myocardial perfusion scans. The post holder will also be key in liaising with cardiothoracic centres in the transfer of inpatients for surgery coronary artery bypass surgery and valve surgery.

- Non medical independent and supplementary prescriber

Knowledge
