An opportunity to work across the lifespan in Occupational Therapy
Band 6 rotational roles based within Dorset County Hospital (Dorchester)
Our rotations include:-
- Acute Hospital at Home (AHAH)
- Orthopaedics
- Frailty
- Critical care
- Emergency Department
- Paediatrics
9 month rotations providing exciting opportunities across various specialties at a senior level, building clinical expertise, service development and leadership experience. We are excited to recently add critical care, paediatrics and acute hospital at home (virtual ward seeing acute patients in their own homes) to create this one of a kind rotation.

Main duties of the job
You will within integrated teams, lead by supportive band 7's to develop your skills within all areas.
- Paediatrics – To be part of a team of therapists providing specialist Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment, treatment and advice service to children, 0-19 years and their parents/carers referred to the Children’s Therapy Service.
- FOH – To be working in ED and the admitting wards within the new ED building.
- Frailty – Frailty and complex care with an opportunity to focus on dementia and delirium.
- Critical Care – Part of the MDT working on the critical care. A newly funded post to support the expansion and development of the critical care service.
- Orthopaedics -working on the trauma and elective pathways.
- Acute Hospital at Home – an opportunity to rehabilitate patients in own homes, following the Homefirst pathway.
The post holder will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills across the above rotations by contributing to service development and supervision of qualified staff. Each rotation is supported by a well-established supervision and in-service training programme. There are also opportunities for study leave and course funding both internally and externally.

Person specification
Education & Experience
Essential criteria
- degree or equivalent in occupational therapy
- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- training/ CPD in relevant post graduate courses
- Member of the RCOT
- Undertaken Clinical Educators course
Desirable criteria
- Member of a specialist group
- Leadership or management qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience in specialist area
- • Understanding of clinical governance and its implication to Occupational Therapy
- • Awareness of Occupational Therapists role within current NHS structures, issues and developments
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Wide range of experience at band 5
- • Experience of participating in audit, EBP and IST
- • Wide range of experience of MDT working
- • Previous NHS experience
- • Experience of supervision
- a minimum clinical experience of 2 years
- Experience in specialist area
Other
Essential criteria
- • Available for on call weekend duties and altered working patterns where clinically appropriate
- Good written and verbal skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise
- • Provision of a clean UK driving licences and access to a car for work purposes
