Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic, confident registered nurse with a background in Cardiology or pre-assessment.  An opportunity has become available to join our cardiac catheter lab pre clerking team. The post is for 19 hours a week which would be spread over 2 days.

We are looking for a Clinical assessment nurse to join our dynamic team who has Cardiology experience and insight into the workings of Cardiac Catheter Lab. The role will focus on assessment and preparation of patients for procedures and will require excellent communication and clinical skills. The consent process is considered a vital aspect of patient care and the post holder will, once competent participate in obtaining informed consent.

Our current Pre assessment service assesses patients prior to Diagnostic Angiography, PCI, and Permanent Pacemaker implant, Pacemaker battery changes and loop recorder implants.

For further information or to arrange an informal visit please contact Kerry Clark, Cardiac Catheter Lab Sister.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for your own workload, following a supported period of induction and will complete pre assessment of patients waiting for a variety of cardiology procedures in dedicated clinic time.

The ideal candidate will have great organisational skills as managing your own workload is an essential part of the role. Following up blood and swab results, escalating concerns and problems from these results requires  communication with the Cardiologists.

The ability to perform venepuncture and the skill of obtaining an ECG are both essential skills required for the role.

Once deemed competent, participating in obtaining informed consent for cardiology procedures during pre-assessment will be expected.

You will need to be a good time keeper and be able to keep pace with the demands of the role.
