Job overview
We are a small, friendly and diverse team who welcome applicants to join us in the Endoscopy Department.
As a Nurse Endoscopist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality endoscopy services across our sites. You will contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and actively support service development in a rapidly growing department.
Our Services Include:
Comprehensive IBD, Colorectal and Hepatology services with specialist nurse support. Full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including capsule endoscopy, EBUS, and ERCP.
We are a fully JAG accredited department with 3 procedure rooms here at Dorset County Hospital, where we offer diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including deep sedation, anaesthetic supported lists. We also offer bronchoscopy, ERCP, Capsule endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening.

This post is offered as a Band 7 position. With a consideration of skills and competency to progress to a Band 8a position once dual trained (OGD and Colo). Please refer to the attached Job Description / Person Specification for more information.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of the team supporting patients during their procedure and recovery, admission and discharge, offering advice and guidance, health promotion and supporting patients with potential cancer diagnosis.

To work as a core member of the Endoscopy team and in partnership with patients, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating high quality care, ensuring patients have a positive experience. We offer a 7 day service. Our working hours are 08.00 - 18.30.

Person specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or OPD on part 1, 2, 5 or 8 of the NMC or HCPC register
Desirable criteria
- BCSP accreditation. Teaching qualification
- Nurse prescriber
- Masters degree or equivalent qualification in relevant subject such as H.E.E or clinical endoscopist Upper GI/Lower G.I modules academic modules
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Able to perform diagnostic endoscopy (colonoscopy or gastroscopy)
Desirable criteria
- Skilled trainer, mentor, supervisor, or coach
- Change management
- 4 years post registration experience
- Leadership of clinical governance and patent safety with commitment to providing a quality service
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Communicates articulately and sensitively with good written English and able to demonstrate the ability to deal with distressing or emotional circumstances
