Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Practice Educator band 6 to join our senior nursing team on The Mary Anning Unit.
The Clinical Practice Educator is a an exciting new opportunity and development for the Unit. This opportunity will enable the successful candidate to identify the training needs of all staff at ward level.
Main duties of the job
The Mary Anning Unit cares for the medically unwell older person aiming for positive patient outcomes and acting always to optimise the care and protection of our elderly, often vulnerable clientele.
Considering the complexities of caring for the acutely unwell older person there will be specific educational requirements.
Develop a bespoke training package which can then be rolled out to build and maintain standards for all staff on the Unit.
Work with the members of the wider MDT and specialist nurses to enhance the educational programmes.
Support all staff with completion of mandatory training compliance, and ensuring that the matrix is updated.
Working with the Education team and CPE's in other divisions to ensure deliver of the core competencies programme.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Recent evidence of CPD
- Qualified Practice Assessor
- Teaching qualification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience working in a acute hospital setting with a understanding of frailty pathways and specific conditions related to the older person
- Evidence of specialty specific knowledge
- Experience of supporting learners in practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience of writing action plans for learners or staff who require additional support
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Evidence of ability to work as a proficient practitioner
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, patients and the public
- Effective time management
- Understanding of clinical governance
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of leadership and management skills or the ability to develop said skillset.
- Knowledge of clinical audit processes
- Ability to recognise the importance of research and quality improvement on patient care
- Ability to develop competency profiles
- Working understanding of the Preceptorship framework
- Working understanding of the Care Certificate framework
- Working understanding of Apprenticeships
