Learning, Quality and Improvement Lead - Band 6
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning, Quality and Improvement Lead (Band 6) within Theatres/Day Surgery Unit.
You will work closely with the Senior Sister for Theatres and the Day Surgery manager to support the delivery and development of improved performance with the Theatres complex.
We are looking for someone that has a strong background in governance and is passionate about making a difference to the people of Dorchester and the surrounding areas that utilise our services.
You must have an excellent understanding of governance processes, including complaints management, PALS responses, duty of candour, serious incidents / RCA's and risk registers.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role are:
- work closely with the Senior Sister for Main Theatres and the Day Surgery Manager to promote quality improvement.
- Lead on specific programmes
- Propose policy and service development
- representing the Head of Theatre Services in complaints from patients and their carers.
- Attend Trust meetings as a representative of Theatres and provide a review of quality, performance and risk information.
- Facilitate the preparation and completion of capital bids and rolling replacements.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner
- Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
- Teaching course/qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience at Band 5 in Theatres/Day Surgery
- An understanding of theatre utilisation and experience of WHO safety brief and the importance of Audit
- Understanding of professional Theatre issues
Desirable criteria
- Ability to develop, implement and monitor risk assessment tools to support the service, encouraging high quality delivery of a safe service
- Understanding of policies and service changes. This includes NatSips.
Skills. Abilities and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of ability to practice as a proficient practitioner
- Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and patients
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of ability to manage own time effectively
- Understanding of clinical governance and ability to assist in establishing systems
- Evidence of clinical technical services and advice when required to maintain the safe provision of patient care, assists in the development of safe, specialised programmes of care
- Evidence of leadership skills
- Support the Health and Safety Champions in the safety of the department and audits
- Evidence of critical appraisal skills

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
