Job overview
An exciting opportunity to join our Professional Development and Clinical Education Team as an Administrator (Dysphagia Training Team) within the Learning and Development Service. You will be working within a small, dynamic and dedicated team who provide Dysphagia training to staff within Dorset Healthcare and to the wider ICS and private sector.
The role involves hybrid working; Office based (Forston Clinic, MOD base, West Moors or Sentinel House), within Trust training venues and external venues across the county and with the opportunity for some working from home as required/agreed. You will assist with the smooth running of the Service, assist the trainer with classroom training (involving the preparation of food and thickening agents), be responsible for the maintenance and transportation of training equipment, maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills and effective working relationships in respect of training, education and CPD for our workforce and external agencies.
You will be a good team worker, enjoy working with people and have excellent organisational, planning and customer service skills. You will have comprehensive knowledge of MS Office applications, with a focus on Outlook, Word and Excel.
This is a part-time post of 22.5 hours /3 days per week. Days to be agreed but flexible working may be required in response to service needs.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated and proactive team player with demonstrable administrative experience to provide a comprehensive administration and training support service to the Dysphagia Training Team (and wider team if required) . You will be required to assist with the smooth running of Dysphagia training in a variety of settings across Dorset and therefore have a willingness to travel.

Knowledge, skills and training
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 5 GCSE (L2) Grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language
- Skills for communication of complex information and administrative matters, requiring developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of administrative procedures and systems
Business travel
Essential criteria
- Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business. Level 2
Job Specific Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of, and a strong commitment to, delivering a customer focused service
- Experience of working within defined administrative procedures
- Ability to use own initiative within sphere of responsibility
- Evidence of good communication skills, both verbal and written to interact and resolve queries with staff at all levels
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within an administration role in a Learning & Development Service
- Knowledge of Dysphagia and the use if the IDDSI Framework
Information Technology
Essential criteria
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications, with a focus on Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable criteria
- Advanced IT Skills and understanding of information systems set-up, data entry and interrogation.
