Job overview

Are you an experienced Mental Health Support Worker or looking to start your NHS career? We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our dedicated and supportive team at Harbour, St Anns Hospital, Poole.

Harbour is a 16 bedded Male Treatment Ward for patients ranging from ages 18 to 64, providing treatment and care for a wide range of mental health illnesses which include Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.

You will be motivated to make a real difference in the lives of people living with mental health illnesses, where respect, compassion, kindness, ability to interact well with people and excellent teamwork are essential qualities for this role. Whilst experience in mental health is desirable, it is not essential as full induction training will be provided with ongoing support from our experienced team. Further opportunities for career development are also available.

This post is a full-time role. We would be flexible and consider part time applications minimum of 22.5 hours

Shift patterns:

Early – 7.15 to 15.15

Late – 13.00 to 21.00

Long Day – 19.15 to 9.00

Nights - (enhanced pay) – 20.30 to 7.40

Main duties of the job

In return we offer you:

·      You will receive a fully comprehensive and structured induction programme

·       Competitive rates of pay, including enhanced pay for unsocial hours (night and weekend work)

·       Access to the NHS pension scheme

·       An NHS badge entitling you to many NHS benefits

·       Attractive annual leave and pension scheme

·       Regular management, clinical supervision and meaningful appraisals

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
