Job overview

St Ann's and Alderney Hospital are looking for a experienced Chef who is passionate about food and wants to make a difference. The ideal candidate will have passion for culinary excellence, strong leadership abilities and the ability to problem solve and the ability to build relationships.

As Chef manager you will have full operational control and financial responsibility including the staff dining rooms for the two sites reporting into the area facilities manager.

Main duties of the job

Supervising and supporting the two catering teams, ensuring the day to day operation is smooth running.

Recruiting, managing and training catering teams

Planning of menus, orders, deliveries and Budget control

Managing food safety, Health & Safety , COSHH and allergens legislation

Requirement

Desirable - Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate or Willingness to Undertake 

Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food production and culinary techniques

Excellent leadership and supervisory skills

Understanding of HACCP, allergen regulations, COSHH

IT Skills/Computer Competence

Essential criteria
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent certificate plus knowledge for special diets acquired through training and experience
  • Food Hygiene level 3 Certificate
  • HACCP level 2 certificate
  • Experience of menu planning
  • Understanding of therapeutic diets
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures, HACCP, COSHH

Finances and Resources

Essential criteria
  • Clear understanding of Finance and Budget responsibility

Information Technology

Essential criteria
  • Basic Knowledge of computers
