Trust Grade Doctor in Psychiatry CT1
Core Trainee (CT1/2)
Job overview
Are you a trust grade doctor looking to develop your psychiatry experience? We have an exciting opportunity to join Dorset Healthcare as a CT1-equivalent trust grade doctor to gain valuable experience in psychiatry.
We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and conscientious trust grades doctors who have completed foundation training or equivalent and have some experience in psychiatry. You’ll be given time for professional development and supported in planning your next steps in your career either in psychiatry, general practice or other medical fields.
These are 12-month fixed term posts, working 10 session per week (40 hours) based primarily at Alderney Hospital, Poole, on our Older People’s Mental Health Inpatient Wards - St Brelades (male) and Herm Ward (female).
As a trust grade doctor you will primarily work with one consultant on one ward, however there will be the expectation that you’ll provide cross cover for periods of leave with a trainee or equivalent level doctor from the OPMH unit in Alderney Hospital. You will assist in the assessment of the physical and mental health of patients on the ward, their on-going management and discharge arrangements. The work will involve liaison with colleagues in community teams and general hospitals and completion of discharge summaries and other clinical correspondence.
Main duties of the job
As a trust grade doctor you will be supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist and work within the trust mental health services and provide clinical input to the OPMH inpatient wards in Alderney Hospital at CT1 level.
Alongside the clinical work this post will retain a strong emphasis on learning opportunities and you will get 15 days of study leave (per 6 months) and a £300 study budget. Participation in the weekly journal club will be facilitated and opportunities to use the study leave doing special interest sessions in specialist services can also be arranged.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
This role will be offered on a secondment basis only for existing NHS employees. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.
