Job overview
The Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (ABIRS) Dorset provides specialist rehabilitation for patients with complex difficulties following an acquired brain injury. Our team of highly experienced staff includes a Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant, Clinical/Neuropsychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapist, Carers Support and Rehabilitation Assistants. The team applies a fully integrated multidisciplinary approach to offer individualised rehabilitation programmes so that people with severe brain injury can achieve their best outcomes possible.
We are currently looking for a Highly specialist speech and language therapist (Band 7) to join our service in the community. This hours of this post would be 7.5 (potential for more hours could be discussed at interview). The post holder will play a central role in the comprehensive rehabilitation by providing innovative and evidence-based assessments and rehabilitation programmes for individuals and small groups of patients and carers. The post holder will use a patient centred goal setting approach, working closely with the multi disciplinary team, in patient ABIRS colleagues and other specialist teams. They will contribute to the development of this dynamic service and wider neuro network, and provide leadership, supervision and training to other team members.
This post is for both the Post Covid Service 7.5 hours and the Acquired Brain Injury Service 7.5 Hours.

To contribute to the development of the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service
To contribute to the Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service as a Brain Injury Practitioner.
To establish the SLT role within ABIRs Team and service
To develop robust and sustainable communication groups across Dorset including social communication and cognitive communication.
To provide SLT clinical expertise to the MDT approach in ABIRs service
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

- Evidence of advanced skills in clinical management demonstrating competence in own abilities
- Experience of working within a multi disciplinary team
Qualifications

- Relevant Speech and Language Therapy degree
- HCPC and RCSLT registered
- Dysphagia competent
