Job overview
We are looking for an exceptional leader who is innovative and committed to making a difference to the Outpatient service (including phlebotomy) and also providing support in radiology and gynaecology. The successful candidate will support the Outpatient team to deliver an ambitious improvement programme over the next 12 months and will play a fundamental role in the Phase 3 transformation plans.
The role of the Matron is fundamental to ensuring that patients across our organisation receive safe, high quality care and have a positive patient experience which is responsive to the changing needs of our patient groups.
We are seeking a highly motivated senior nurse with a proven track record of strong leadership and experience of leading teams through change and transformation. The post holder will be an individual who is able to engage, inspire and develop teams to provide the highest quality of care.
The role will include delivery of operational performance targets including finance, activity, workforce and quality/safety along with supporting our teams objectives and compliance whilst meeting local and national standards to the relevant services.
This role requires an active UK NMC Registration
Please note you will be required to work across sites at Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch for this role.
For UHD employees, this fixed-term post will be offered as a secondment in line with the Trust’s Secondment Policy. Please speak with your line manager before applying.
Interview Date: 19th January 2026
Main duties of the job
This role will primarily involve working within the Outpatients department, but will also require oversight of the gynaecology team and nursing radiology team (including IR daycase).
This is an exciting opportunity to work across all sites as we progress with the transformational work. Services are currently provided at Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch.

Working for our organisation
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.

This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have about this at interview.
Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
