DIUCS Senior Clinician - Nurse / Paramedic

Band 6

Job overview

Are you an experienced nurse or paramedic, looking to develop your skills and knowledge? Dorset Integrated Urgent Care Service (DIUCS) would like to hear from you.

As a Clinical Assessment and Treatment Centre Senior Clinician, based at our site in St. Leonards, you will be part of a team of clinicians providing visible clinical support to our Health Advisors and wider clinical teams during hours of operation; leading by example as an effective Clinician is essential within this role.

DIUCS are committed to the development of our clinical teams and offer a range of accredited University modules and in house training to enhance skills and knowledge.  Successful completion would put you in a great position to apply for exciting clinical roles within the service.

Calls will be directed to you when patients require clinical advice, by using a combination of your clinical experience and our Pathways Clinical Consultation System (PaCCS software, you’ll ensure the patient receives the most suitable treatment tailored to their needs. Treatment can range from self-care and advice to referring patients to other services.)

The role of Clinical Assessment and Treatment Centre Senior Clinician benefits from 24/7 rotas and enhanced shift allowance for evenings, weekends and public holidays. Full and part time opportunities are available.

Main duties of the job

DIUCS brings together NHS 111, a clinical assessment and treatment service including mobile clinical visiting services, urgent treatment centres, minor injuries units, and a single point of access for professionals, integrating these elements, presents the opportunity for more people to receive seamless urgent advice and/or care, and reduce the strain on primary care, our EDs and the 999 service.

You will undertake high quality, holistic, patient centred clinical assessments of patients via the telephone, which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.

Provide an excellent standard of clinical practice including safely managing the call back queues through the systems, providing clinical support and advice to our non-clinical Health Advisor team and specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients. Plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings. Provide supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students, trained practitioners and non-clinical colleagues.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
