Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our small and friendly team at the Yeatman Community Hospital within the Outpatients Department.

This is a diverse and interesting environment and the successful applicant will ideally have experience in these areas however enthusiasm to learn new skills will be beneficial.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide a high standard of nursing care which is driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice. Enthusiasm, motivation and excellent team working skills are essential.

Our Outpatients Department supports a wide variety of specialist clinics such as ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, General Surgery and Urology clinics.

The post is part time with a maximum of 30 hours available. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Monday to Friday (some weekend work may form part of the role in the future) and the role involves covering other community hospital outpatients when needed. 

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

You will be required to provide professional clinical leadership to the unit on a day to day basis, facilitating effective working relationships within the multidisciplinary team and external organisations. 

You will use various computer systems to record patient care and activity and participate in clinical audit. 

The role includes supervision of junior staff, management of clinic rota's and appraisals for health care support workers.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Essential criteria
  • Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level
Desirable criteria
  • Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and mentoring to junior staff

  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and deliver evidence based care
  • Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of practice
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively
