Materials Management Officer/Driver

Job overview

As our Materials Management Officer / Driver, you will work as an integral part of the team ensuring that internal supply chain services are always maintained e.g., receipts, distribution and/or materials management using computerised receipts, storage and/or bar-coded data capture systems within the warehouse and the wider Trust amongst other duties.

You will also deliver goods to various locations within the Trust portfolio. It will also be your responsibility to deliver goods to the public for example continence products and wound dressings. This may require you to go through the patient’s threshold to assist in putting the goods away. 

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload. It is necessary to have a flexible approach within this role and be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload.

You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping Trust Staff throughout the working day. You will also be required to communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the telephone.

Main duties of the job

Provide customer liaison and helpdesk services, managing telephone

enquiries, providing advice and resolving queries and problems.

 

Expedite outstanding orders and inform users of any product delays,

product changes or shortages, and actively source alternatives

.

Research and identify new or alternative products and sources of supply. 

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person specification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Possess, studying or willing to study for NVQ Level 3 in Procurement Warehousing or Supply chain Management
  • Minimum GSCE Maths and English at level 4 or C or above
  • ECDL or similar qualification or equivalent level of experience/knowledge to competently use Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel and Outlook

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential criteria
  • Current UK driving licence - minimum of B1 class

JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in producing and analysing information
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team on own initiative
