Job overview
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is recognised nationally as an intervention that improves lives and demonstrates lasting benefits to patients with pulmonary disease. We are looking for a qualified Fitness Instructor to join our dynamic cross county service.
Our Dorset Service has been designed to offer a robust twice weekly face to face programs in a number of venues but we also offer remote versions to increase the opportunity for pulmonary patients to access this beneficial service.
It is an exciting time for the service as we are evolving and there are ample opportunities to use your skills and knowledge to deliver an intervention that is proven to improve patient's health and wellbeing
The post-holder will be prescribing individualised exercise programmes and be continually assessing and progressing and giving onward lifestyle changes discussions. They will participate in NRAP audit and support the service to achieve full PRSAS accreditation.
Main duties of the job
Assist in holistic assessment of the individual
Prescribing individualised exercise programmes with continual assessment and progression and onward lifestyle changes.
Record outcomes accordingly on our electronic patient record.
Liaise with Patients and their family .
Assist in audits/ accreditation
Preparation of the the exercise area.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Essential criteria
- Level 3 Advanced Fitness/Gym Instructor, plus knowledge to diploma level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Referral Programme Consultation /exercise referral Qualification
Job specific experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to work single handed with individuals/groups within a supportive environment. Able to demonstrate skills to work with groups
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with older people
- Experience with respiratory conditions
