Would you like to work within a small, friendly team in the pretty market towns of Wimborne & Blandford, Dorset?
Are you a registered nurse with emergency care or allied health practitioner with at least 2 years’ experience of working in emergency department /or minor injury/ailment care?
Would you like to gain more valuable experience within the minor injuries field. We would like to welcome an experienced Band 7 Minor Injuries Practitioner to work in our small, friendly team at our Minor Injury Units.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job
You will be working as an autonomous practitioner within the minor injuries unit assessing, treating, referring or safe discharging any patients both adults and children attending the units. Recognising and taking appropriate actions in an emergency situation. The post will allow you to take clinical responsibility for patients, carers, students and other junior health professionals. Maintaining a high quality of care for all patients attending the units. You will have a V300 non medical prescribing qualification and have a good working knowledge of present up to date IR(ME)Regulations You will be able to request and interpret appendicular skeleton x rays. You will also be a mentor and assessor to junior staff members and be involved in teaching and assessing.

Knowledge, skills and training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse/ Emergency Care Practitioner/ AHP qualification in Specialist field to degree/diploma level
- Supplemented by diploma level specialist training and/or short courses, or equivalent level of experience
- Safeguarding level 2 adult and level 3 child experience
Job specific experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in emergency and/or, minor injury and/or ailment care
- Recent previous experience of working within a customer focused environment
- Previous experience of working with a multidisciplinary team
Managment experience
Essential criteria
- The ability to organise own time and that of junior staff and learners, plan off duty rota and undertake discharge planning involving co-ordination with other agencies
Personal Qualities / attributes
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise effectively
- Ability to use own initiative within sphere of authority.
- Evidence of good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure in a physical and psychologically demanding role.
