With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Healthcare Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant  to join our highly specialised and committed respiratory clinicians working as an integrated respiratory team providing care to patients with Respiratory disease across North of Tees. 

The integrated team is working in many innovative and exciting ways to improve quality of life for people with respiratory disease. The Respiratory team works within the community and hospital setting and includes Pulmonary Rehabilitation and a home oxygen service. The service has a "hospital at home” service, where more complex and intensive support will be provided in the patients’ own home as an alternative to acute care. This service will also support early discharge from hospital. Emphasis of this role will be placed upon supporting pulmonary rehabilitation and Hospital at Home

Main duties of the job

This is an ideal opportunity for a Health care Assistant/Therapy assistant, who have an interest in working within Respiratory, who are proactive, self-motivated and keen to be at the forefront of delivering high quality care, to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Specialist Respiratory Practitioners in providing support and care for patients with Respiratory disease in both the out of hospital and inpatient settings. Respiratory experience is desirable however support, training and mentorship will be provided.

The post holders will need to be able to work flexibly, including weekend working and the ability to travel across the locality independently during their working day

The successful candidate will work closely with the Specialist Respiratory Practitioners in providing support and care for patients with Respiratory disease in the community, pulmonary rehabilitation and in patient setting.

The Respiratory team works within the community setting and includes Asthma, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and a home oxygen service. The service has implemented a  "hospital at home" service, where more complex and intensive support is provided in the patients’ own home as an alternative to acute care for COPD exacerbation management. This service also supports early discharge from hospital.
