NHS AfC: Band 5
We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.
We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public. Rowan Lea is a QNOAMHS (aims) accredited 20 bed mixed gender ward for older people. We work collaboratively with patients and carers to develop individual well-being treatment plans. The team encourages innovative practice and supports development
We have a broad multi-disciplinary inpatient team that includes nurses, medical staff, a physical health care practitioner, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology. There is local access to nutrition and dietetic staff within MHSOP. We work in partnership with local Community Teams .
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join the Mental Health Older Persons inpatient service currently based at Rowan Lea Cross lane Hospital Scarborough. You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse and able to demonstrate continuing professional development, effective generic nursing skills and the confidence to meet the requirements of a Band 5 position working primarily with the older person.
You will be joining an established and supportive multi-disciplinary team that is committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care. Working closely with other professionals in the team and external agencies you will provide evidence based nursing interventions, including aspects of care ranging from initial assessment, treatment monitoring, delivery of therapeutic interventions, crisis management and discharge.
You will have the on going opportunity to develop your skills within the wider team in relation to the care of patients experiencing organic mental health problems, supported through supervision and on going professional development opportunities.
