Consultant Physician in Gastroenterology/GIM with subspecialty interest in screening colonoscopy
Applications are invited for a post of Consultant Physician in Gastroenterology/GIM with subspecialty interest in screening colonoscopy to work within the Trust in the University Hospitals of North Tees and Hartlepool.
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is a progressive, forward thinking organisation, providing acute and community services to the population of Stockton-on Tees, Hartlepool, East Durham and the surrounding areas including a large part of Sedgefield, with a budget of £141 million and 4770 employees.
The successful applicant will contribute to the specialist Gastroenterology services of the Trust with the aim of providing high quality care including screening colonoscopy, contribute to the endoscopy team’s development of its therapeutic services (eg of the complex polyp MDM, research, teaching, training and upskilling of the endoscopy staff), and participation on the unit’s JAG colonoscopy courses. He/she will be working with the rest of the multi-professional Gastroenterology and Endoscopy team in a wide range of activities including ensuring timely management of cancer pathways. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to both the acute GIM on call rota and the 24/7 GI bleed rota.
The post will be offered for 10 PA’s under the Terms and Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003. Although the post is tenable on a whole time basis, any applicant who, for personal reasons is unable to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. Candidates should be fully registered with the GMC and preferably on the Specialist Register GIM and Gastroenterology (or within 6 months of CCT at interview).
