Job overview

This post is to join our Band 5 Occupational Therapy rotations, on a fixed term basis for 22.5hour per week. Please note the successful applicant will join one of our existing band 5 rotations which could be within the acute services or community based. Any interested applicants are encouraged to apply as there could be additional positions available within the near future. This is a part time post for 22.5 hours per week, fixed term post (maternity leave)

Main duties of the job

As this is a Trustwide post, the successful candidate will be required to rotate between the Stockton or Hartlepool localities. We offer rotations in Orthopaedics (elective and trauma,  Acute Medicine and surgery, Respiratory, Intermediate Care/Community Therapy, Stroke Rehabilitation (Acute and Community), Paediatrics, Palliative care, Intergrated Discharge Team (IDT) and Home First

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post forms part of our band 5 rotation which offers experience in the core areas.  Orthopaedics (elective and trauma,  Acute Medicine and Surgery, Respiratory, Intermediate Care/Community Therapy, Stroke Rehabilitation (Acute and Community), Paediatrics, Palliative care and Home First Each rotation is 6-9 months (but may change according to service needs).

Once fully developed into the Band 5 role and according to the needs of the service the post holder may have the opportunity to develop more specialist skills in non rotational band 5 posts.

The post holder will be responsible for assessing the needs of people on their caseload, devising treatment plans  and devising appropriate pathways to enable people to return to their previous lifestyle where possible and practical.

The post holder will work autonomously in their area but will receive supervision and support with regard to continuing professional development from a Senior Therapist.

A UK driving license holder and access to a vehicle is desirable

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or MSc Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with Health and Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
  • Membership into the Royal Collage of Occupational Therapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Pre graduate or post gradutate experience of working in a health and social care system
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering supervision to non qualifed and/or students
  • Experience of working in a generic role

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of clinical conditions and the effect of Occupational Performance
  • Knowledge of assessment and treatment methods untilised in Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of national guidance influencing service delivery

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and non verbal communications skills
Desirable criteria
  • Use of IT systems
  • Using own initiative to priorities work load
  • UK driving license and access to a vehicle
