To support ongoing work within the Pharmacy department we are delighted to offer the post of Chief Technician.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic proven leader who has extensive Pharmacy Technician and leadership experience and who will complement our established and valued teams. You will have improvement and development experience to help drive forward development of our service.
We are looking for somebody with excellent communication, organizational and time management skills who can demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
The successful applicant will professionally lead our team of technicians and pharmacy assistants across our organization. The post will be a key member of the pharmacy senior leadership team and represent the service at all levels within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
This post is a new and exciting opportunity to provide senior clinical leadership and expertise to our dynamic and progressive pharmacy technical team. This role will be responsible for overseeing clinical, operational, informatics and education and training aspects of technical services. This role will work very closely with all of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team to drive service improvement across the Pharmacy department and organisation to deliver the departmental vision and strategy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To provide strategic leadership and vision into the development of the pharmacy department
· To ensure that the Pharmacy Department develops in line with national standards and guidelines and to implement recommendations and legislation
· To be a positive role model and provide a high profile level of leadership whilst empowering others to deliver their objectives and goals
· To provide leadership in the development of all pharmacy services through membership of the Senior Leadership Team
· To lead, develop and maintain a working environment which encourages team work, mutual support and excellence in service delivery and reduces risks to a minimum
· To lead service improvement and development ensuring that systems are safe, effective and efficient
· To actively review and develop the roles of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers
· To lead, develop and manage the informatics of the pharmacy department including Omnicells to ensure the competency of staff
· To have budgetary responsibility for pharmacy technical services
· To be responsible for Human Resource issues of technical and support staff delegating where appropriate i.e. recruitment and selection, absence management reviews, grievance and disciplinary, occupational health support etc.
· To continually maintain and review the security of the pharmacy department and its contents
· To lead and be responsible for business continuity within pharmacy and representative at organisational groups

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
- Management Qualification or significant experience in a management/leadership role
- Qualified Technician Checker (to National Standard)

- Medicines Management Qualified

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
