University Hospital of North Tees Pharmacy Department is seeking a Principal Pharmacy Technician (Stores & Procurement) to lead a skilled team in delivering a safe, efficient, and high-quality medicines supply service.

Main duties of the job

What you'll do:

  • Lead and manage pharmacy technicians and assistants.
  • Oversee stock control, ensuring compliance with recognised standards.
  • Improve efficiency through innovation and collaboration.
  • Utilise automated dispensing technology to enhance operations.
  • Develop leadership skills and drive service improvements.

What you'll need:

  • GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Accuracy Checking Qualification 
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Stock control and distribution expertise
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience working in a hospital pharmacy setting
  • Experience of computerised stock control
  • Experience of staff management in a hospital pharmacy environment
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working as a member of multidisciplinary teams

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to reliably check, input and record data and to identify discrepancies
  • Good working knowledge of Windows based systems, and capable of using Microsoft Office application
  • Focused on patient care and the efficient and effective service delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively, have a logical approach to problem solving and to form and maintain good working relationships
Desirable criteria
  • Well-developed customer relations skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
  • Completed accuracy checking qualification or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification or relevant experience of managing staff
  • Knowledge of EMIS Ascribe dispensing system
