Estates & Facilities IT Systems Manager

NHS AfC: Band 8a

Job overview

We’re looking for an experienced Estates & Facilities IT Systems Manager to lead and manage the development, maintenance and performance of our key Estates IT systems at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a senior and specialist role responsible for ensuring our Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), compliance databases, and asset registers are fully operational, compliant, and fit for purpose. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders across the Trust to improve system performance, lead service improvement projects, and support the delivery of safe, efficient and compliant Estates and Facilities services.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills, a solid understanding of compliance frameworks and the confidence to lead system projects and influence positive change across a multi-site organisation.

Our sites span across Sussex, and we offer flexibility with your base location—this role can be based at one of several sites across the county.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Estates IT systems and delivering projects that improve data quality, system performance and reporting. Your key duties will include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of Estates IT systems, including procurement, integration, testing and upgrades

  • Acting as system lead for CAFM, BMS, compliance databases and electronic asset registers

  • Maintaining and improving compliance dashboards, reports and workflows

  • Providing technical support and training to Estates staff on system use

  • Supporting service continuity, business planning and compliance reporting across Estates

  • Analysing performance data and presenting findings to a range of internal stakeholders

  • Collaborating with Estates and Capital Development teams to maintain and develop asset databases and smart PPM systems

  • Driving the delivery of Estates IT projects, engaging with users to support adoption and maximise system benefits

  • Providing leadership and technical guidance on compliance, including SFG20 and Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) requirements

You’ll also support change management, training, stakeholder engagement and the integration of new technologies across the department.
