Job overview

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and dynamic senior radiographer whose role will be to specialise in the field of interventional radiology. This exciting opportunity will be perfect for a suitably qualified radiographer who is committed to providing and maintaining a very high standard of patient care and imaging outcomes.

The successful candidate will be part of our closely integrated imaging department teams and will be rewarded with the potential to expand their experience in these modalities as well as having the chance to develop their role in supporting junior staff and students.

Main duties of the job

Interventional radiology procedures are performed on a Philips Azurion 7 system in the main imaging department and we also have Philips Allura Clarity equipment dedicated to interventional procedures in a hybrid theatre suite.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The Radiographer will be expected to work as a core member of the Interventional Radiology team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) site.
  • The radiographer will need to be able to undertake a wide range of clinical duties to provide a high quality imaging service and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, encouraging and supporting colleagues to do so also.
  • To ensure the department delivers an exemplary service and experience to patients and members of the public.
  • To ensure departmental adherence to Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2017 and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017, and the Trusts policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • Actively participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, both within Imaging and outside of the department.
  • Support the Superintendent Radiographers to ensure the day to day running of the Interventional Radiology and Neuro Interventional Radiology Departments are smoothly co-ordinated.
  • The post-holder will be expected to participate in the 7-day extended day and out-of-hours (OOH) rotas, providing a high standard of emergency service for the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This post also has a commitment to some weekend shifts as part of core working hours.

Training, HCPC registration and NHS experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC registration
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience in trauma and A&E plain film radiography
  • Experience in general radiography including plain film, mobile, theatres and fluoroscopy
