Job overview

The post-holder will provide comprehensive technical expertise and support to maintain and expand all Trust’s IT client device services. They will be expected to assist with all aspects of the day-to-day administration and management of the IT environment as necessary, with particular emphasis on the Trust’s client and application environments. The successful applicant will have a good breadth and depth of IT knowledge gained through experience as they will be required to be able to work without supervision and will need to understand the complexity of the overall IT infrastructure within their location(s). Out of hours support is provided by the department and active participation in this is a requirement of the post.
Main duties of the job
- To assist with the build, configuration, documentation and integration of new IT service components as part of the Trust’s on-going technology expansion
- To undertake tasks associated with build, deployment and on-going maintenance of client devices.
- To provide a point of technical escalation and technical support to the IT Service Desk.
- To proactively assist departments in the development of their IT use in line with clinical requirements and ensuring that good customer facing skills are employed at all times
- To provide high quality technical support as required, to all users connected to the customer’s IT environment using diagnostic tools and fault-finding techniques to identify root causes.
- To diagnose and fix faults where feasible or to recommend appropriate solutions acknowledging and describing the implications for the end customer and for the internal IT teams.
- To assist with documenting all operational processes and procedures for designated services

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- • Good standard of general education (5 GCSE’s or equivalent)
- • Microsoft Certified Professional or 18 months relevant experience operating at this level
- • Current and recent Windows Operating Systems and principles of networking
- • Installation and care of computer peripherals including and not limited to printers, scanners, dictation devices etc.
Desirable criteria
- • Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation • Degree or A level education or equivalent experience
- • A good understanding of the principles of project management
