Job overview
We are seeking a UK NMC Registered Nurse with post qualification experience who is seeking a career in Occupational Health. The post holder will receive training on the job, and will also have the opportunity to gain their diploma/degree in Occupational Health Practice. Once competencies and training is complete, the post holder will progress to band 6.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be trained to undertake a wide range of OH Services including:
Health clearance assessments based on Department of Health guidance and local policy
Provision of fitness for work advice to Trust managers and staff
Assessment of sharps injuries
Health surveillance
Undertaking clinical audits
Workplace vaccinations

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To work as a specialist autonomous practitioner, managing own caseload.
- Responsible and accountable for specialist advice given to managers and staff.
- To assess fitness to work and provide recommendations including adjustments and advice, taking into account disability under the Equality Act 2010.
- Recognise where further advice is required and take appropriate action as needed.
- Request medical reports where identified additional information is required.
- Maintain accurate written/typed records.
- Produce accurate typed reports following OH assessments.
- Participate in health surveillance if required.
- Undertake and participate in clinical audits.
- Undertake assessments for staff exposure to blood and body fluids, arranging follow up care where indicated.
- Carry out blood taking and vaccination clinics as required.
