Job overview
University Hospitals Sussex (UHSx) places immense value on its cancer pharmacy team, which has steadily grown in both strength and size over the years. We are delighted to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Lead Pharmacist Education and Training SACT Services to join our well-established team of dedicated professionals.
This successful post holder will oversee the training and development of pharmacist, technicians and assistants working in preparative and cancer services. This will support our expanding services while also growing the workforce of the future.
This is an exhilarating phase for both our cancer and aseptic pharmacy service, as we aspire to expand our pharmacy prescribing team, provide even more patient-facing services and centralise our Aseptic Services to a new single site.
As part of this role, you will also play a crucial role in our oncology service, collaborating closely with medical and nursing teams.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated and passionate pharmacist who is eager to contribute to the advancement of our oncology service. If you are looking to progress in your career and enhance your knowledge and skills, this position offers an ideal opportunity for professional growth.
Located along the picturesque Sussex coast, our region is renowned for its diversity and vibrancy. With stunning beaches and the beautiful Sussex Downs in close proximity, all our sites provide an exciting and inspiring work environment.
You will join a new team of 4 working across the Trust. The practice educators will ensure consistency in training and implement the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) Cancer Pharmacy Education and Training Standards to improve cross-cover. Current training processes, such as peer-to-peer training and job shadowing, have proven ineffective since staff responsible for carrying out daily workloads perform
them. This leads to no dedicated training time or support for new staff, significantly prolonging training periods and negatively impacting the quality and satisfaction of individuals
As part of this team you will be able to work with a variety of people providing an outstanding service to the Trust ensuring the safe and efficient provision of chemotherapy.
Join our team at UHS and become a part of our dynamic and progressive cancer pharmacy service. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on patient care and shape the future of oncology services.
