Job overview

We are looking for a full time permanent Mammographer at The Park Centre for Breast Care in Brighton. This is a Band 7 post, but we would be willing to consider applications from UK  qualified  and state registered Radiographers who wish to train to become a Mammographer, in which case the role would be  Band 5 Trainee Mammographer post, moving to  Band 6 on successful completion of the Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography, and then to a Band 7 with additional responsibilities, when completing one year post qualification clinical  experience.

The hours of the role will be Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 , with one hour for lunch.  There may be some weekend overtime available, on a voluntary basis, when required.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of the Mammographic multi-disciplinary team  for East Sussex, Brighton and Hove Breast Screening Service, providing a professional service of the highest quality,  in line with  the standards and guidelines set out by the NHSBSP across the full range of mobile and static breast screening sites. They will also be responsible for providing high quality breast imaging and patient care for the Symptomatic Breast Service, for patients in Brighton and East Sussex.

They must be empathetic , caring and patient centred. We value caring, enthusiastic  applicants who understand the importance of their role and the need for attention to detail,  along with exceptional communication skills and standards of patient care. They will also work with the Radiology and Advanced Practitioner teams to position, image and support patients for a variety of interventional procedures.

Time management is key,  and the ability to work under pressure within time constraints and very busy clinics is expected. Communication with clients, patients and their families and carers is a central part of the Mammographer's role,  as they provide support, information and reassurance for a wide variety of service users.
