Job overview

This post is 22.5hrs per week and sits in the adult acute hospital team at St Richards Hospital; which is part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust.

The post is split to cover adult in-patients and out-patients, predominately within the specialties of critical care and gastroenterology.

It is being advertised as fixed term for 12month post.

We would love to hear from you if have post graduate NHS experience  working in these specialities and a desire to demonstrate high standards of care with excellent communication skills. This post offers the support of a friendly department and experienced multidisciplinary teams.

Main duties of the job

This post work as part of the dietetic and multidisciplinary teams to provide highly specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within the specialities of critical care and gastroenterology.

We provide training to undergraduate Dietitians, supervising their clinical placements. This post will also participate in continuing professional development, audit and research within this specialist area to further best practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

St Richard’s Hospital, is a 450-bed district general hospital situated in Chichester. It is part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Dietetic specialities include acute, diabetes, gastroenterology, paediatrics, bariatrics, nutrition support, eating disorders and community Dietetics.

We train student dietitians for A, B and C placements and are committed to training and professional development.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Degree or post graduate diploma dietetics
  • HCPC registered Dietitian
  • At least 3 years post graduate NHS experience with at least 2 years at senior level
  • Recent experience of working in the nutritional management of patients in this speciality
  • Experience of Multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of managing own complex caseload
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Able to motivate self and others
  • Able to deal with demanding and distressed patients and their carers
  • Ability to adapt to change in planning activities
