Job overview

A exciting new position has become available for a decontamination technician to assist in the efficient and safe delivery of the decontamination services within the endoscopy department to ensure a seamless quality service for patients undergoing an endoscopy procedure within St.Richards Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the efficient and safe delivery of the Decontamination Services within the endoscopy department for endoscopy, theatres, Xray and ITU also to work proactively with the estates department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Liase with all members of the multidisciplinary endoscopy team, to ensure that the endoscopes are cleaned in accordance and with reference to infection control guidelines, manufacturers guidelines, and 
in accordance with the polices and procedures relating to the use of this equipment within University  Hospitals Sussex, with possible cross site working.

Ensure that all endoscopes are disinfected using the auto-disinfector (in accordance with manufactures, JAG guidelines, CFPP 01-06 and ISO 13485) and assist the Endoscopy Decontamination Services 
Manager in ensuring that daily equipment checks are undertaken and data regarding this stored in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Assist in the organisation of the programme serving and repairing of endoscopes and decontamination equipment in a prompt and timely fashion to ensure that the service is run efficiently and ensure that 
audit trail is recorded.
