Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech & Language Therapist wishing to further their career in Acute and Stroke services at St Richards Hospital, Chichester, part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. 

 

This Specialist post will suit experienced Band 5 or 6 Speech & Language Therapists wishing to take the next step in their career path. This will be working within an inpatient team supporting the general acute and stroke caseloads at St Richards.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide assessment, management and provision of therapy to those patients with swallowing and communication difficulties.
  • To act as a mentor to Band 5 SLTs, SLT Assistants and SLT students.
  • To support provision of training and CPD within the SLT service and more widely within UHSussex.
  • To develop competencies within instrumental assessment of swallowing, management of critical care patients including those with tracheostomy.

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Speech & Language Therapist
  • Registered with HCPC and RCSLT
  • Relevant clinical experience with adult caseloads
  • Post-graduate Dysphagia competencies
  • Experience of providing training.
