Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated physiotherapist to join our band 6 Physiotherapy rotation. East Sussex Healthcare Trust is the largest combined acute and community trust in the South East of England. Our Band 6 rotation gives the opportunity to work within the acute sites in Eastbourne and Hastings, our intermediate care Units and within community rotations.

The Rotational post would be suitable for someone seeking to develop their physiotherapy clinical and leadership skills at Band 6 level in a wide range of specialities.

Rotations available include respiratory and acute neurological rehabilitation, trauma and orthopaedics, MSK outpatients, stroke (acute and stroke rehab unit), acute discharge services, amputee/vascular services, intermediate care rehabilitation and joint community rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

We will offer the successful candidates the opportunity to broaden their clinical practice in a variety of settings, whilst developing leadership skills and supporting physiotherapy students and apprentices on placement. Promoting the role of physiotherapy within the Trust and more widely is an essential part of the role.

Successful candidates will join the evening on call respiratory rota which runs up to 10pm every day.

The physiotherapy department is part of the Community Health and Integrated Care division, we are committed to professional development and evidence-based practice. This is demonstrated through regular departmental training, the commitment to new initiatives and a constant review and improvement of services. Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A BSc in Physiotherapy/undergrad MSc Physiotherapy
  • Health Professions Council Registered
  • Evidence of continued professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant topic

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of clinical experience as a physiotherapist that could include acute, intermediate care and community
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Competent to take part in on call and/or weekend physiotherapy rotas
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a band 6 physiotherapist
  • Experience supporting/supervising students
  • Experience of supervising other staff/ assistants
  • Completed clinical educator training

Knowledge/Skills

Essential criteria
  • Confident with core physiotherapy skills
  • Will have the ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment and intervention incorporating manual physiotherapy techniques, therapeutic handling and safe use of equipment, using the skills of highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses
