Job overview

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Reception Supervisor to lead our Reception team within a busy hospital environment. The post is part time. Hours and days required are Monday - Wednesday 8.30am - 5pm with an hour for lunch. This is a key role in ensuring that patients visitors and staff receive a professional, efficient and compassionate service.

Main duties of the job

You will oversee the day to day running of the reception area, supported by the Reception Manager who  works cross site.  You will support a team of receptionists and ensure that high standards of customer service and operational efficiency are consistently maintained.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) to include English and Maths Grade C or above.
  • NVQ3 admin or proven equivalent experience.
  • Computer literate with ability to undertake additional training on departmental IT and manual systems
  • Evidence of continued professional development to NVQ4 / diploma equivalent to include training and/ or proven experience in : o Computerised and manual patient records systems o Staff supervision & training o Customer care o Patient confidentiality and Data Protection
Desirable criteria
  • Additional relevant qualifications e.g. IT, risk assessment

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant previous experience in an Administration working environment
  • Experience of supervising administration staff
  • Managing conflict in the workplace
  • Experience and understanding of a PAS system
  • Experience and thorough working knowledge of Oasis and the Clinics for OPD
  • Working to tight deadlines and prioritising workload
  • Customer care skills and experience in the NHS
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of information governance issues and Datix reporting
  • Awareness of patient confidentiality and data protection issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Managing rotas for groups of staff
  • Experience of dealing with PALS, Complaints and Datix incidents
  • Experience of recruitment and selection of staff
