Job overview

The RACPC ( Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic) Co-ordinator role is key to the the services provided  within the Cardiology Department. 

Main duties of the job

You need to be able to mange  a busy fluctuating workload , whilst adhering to strict time frames.  Excellent communication skills are required for this role as you will be speaking directly with patients to offer appointments and provide reassurance and guidance.  Booking of RACPC appointments is done on both the TOMCAT and PAS systems.  Use of other hospital systems will also be utilised within this role. Liaising on a daily basis with the RACPC Nurse to ensure clinic completion, collating GP referral for triage , creating templates for clinics. A need for learning is required as full training will provided for the role.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education to GCSE level including maths and English
  • IT skills: MS Office applications
  • Administration NVQ3 or proven equivalent knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS or similar organisation with direct contact with patients
  • Previous experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of computerised waiting list system – preferably OASIS, Tomcat, Theatreman.
  • Experience in managing waiting lists.
  • Experience of contact with the general public within a busy environment.
  • Experience of RTT pathways and booking outpatient clinics
  • Experience of working as part of a team but able to work independently
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own work load
  • Experience of using IT systems
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating understanding, care and compassion to patients and families
  • Experience of dealing with difficult / sensitive/ confidential situations.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in NHS Plan targets.
  • Previous experience in a Cardiology office environment
  • Experience of working to deadlines
  • Experience of using CVIS (Tomcat)
