Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Ward Clerk in Endoscopy EDGH. 

You will be part of a team of Ward Clerks responsible for welcoming outpatients to the department, recording and updating all attendance information and making follow ups where appropriate, in line with the Referral to Treatment: Access and Management Policy and Organisation Objectives.

You will need to deal with challenges, perform under pressure and be able to prioritise work. The ideal candidate will be computer literate & flexible and good customer service skills are essential.  

The hours of service are 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within the service hours.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a comprehensive multi-faceted, wide range 
of administrative and clerical duties to the ward to support the Nursing 
and Medical staff in the smooth day to day running of the ward area.
They will be responsible for the safe keeping and availability of all 
clinical records relating to patients and the smooth running of the ward / 
department office. They will also provide general assistance in the
management and adherence of Trust Key Performance Indicators 
(KPI’s) relating to the ward area.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education including English and Maths GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of personal development
  • Recognised relevant qualification such as: customer service, administration, secretarial, IT (e.g. ECDL)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous clerical/administration experience in a busy environment
  • Experience of keeping accurate record keeping and filing systems
  • Customer care/service
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS or other healthcare setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Acting with patience and tact.
  • Competent IT literacy with ability to learn new systems and processes
