Job overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our Chemical Pathology team on a job share basis. This vital role supports the Consultant Clinical Scientists, Lead Biomedical Scientist, and other senior staff in delivering high-quality diagnostic services within Pathology.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in a secretarial or administrative role, including audio typing, knowledge of medical terminology, strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and is a team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and supportive team at the forefront of clinical diagnostics. The job share arrangement (16 hours: Monday to Thursday afternoons and 12 hours: Tuesday and Friday)

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good general level of education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and Maths
- Evidence of continued professional development to NVQ level 3 in relevant subject
- RSA III or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- ECDL or alternative IT qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in use of audio and working in a secretarial capacity.
- Experience of working with the public and handling difficult situation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience of working in a busy environment.
