The Hospital Waste Porter plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment by ensuring the efficient and compliant collection, segregation, and disposal of all hospital waste, including clinical, domestic, and recyclable materials. This role supports infection control and environmental sustainability across the hospital site.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
- Collect and transport various waste streams (clinical, domestic, sharps, confidential, recyclable) from wards, theatres, and departments to designated disposal or storage areas.
- Ensure correct segregation and handling of waste in line with hospital policies and current legislation (e.g., HTM 07-01).
- Operate waste compactors, bins, and trolleys safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of waste collection equipment and storage areas.
- Report any incidents, spillages, or non-compliance with waste procedures to the appropriate supervisor.
- Wear appropriate PPE and follow all infection prevention and control protocols.
- Assist with ad hoc portering duties as required, including supporting emergency waste clearances.
- Participate in mandatory training and contribute to continuous improvement in waste management practices.
