Job overview

We would like to appoint a progressive and determined individual who is committed to excellence in patient care to join the Rheumatology Nursing Team.

There is now an opening as a Rheumatology Specialist Nurse within the Musculoskeletal Directorate at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath and The Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. 

The post holder will be involved in all aspects of managing a caseload of patients within the speciality. They will undertake nurse led clinics and work as an independent practitioner whilst promoting a collaborative and multi professional approach to patient care pathways.

To be considered for the post the applicant must be a Registered Nurse who advocates excellence in clinical practise at all times. 

We offer a friendly and stimulating professional environment for you to develop and work in. 

We can offer a developmental role at a Band 6, if you wish to progress your career and develop opportunities within the Clinical Nurse Specialist Role but at present do not have the necessary criteria for the Band 7 position. Training and supervision will be given to support you in your development. Please see specific Job Description for Band 6 Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist attached for all the details. The post holder will work within the specialist team to help provide  an excellent Rheumatology nursing service for rheumatology patients. they will provide clinical care with the opportunity to discuss individual patient cases with rheumatology consultants where appropriate and also liaise with multi-professional colleagues to facilitate and improve patient care.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC level1 or RN
  • Mentorship or other teaching qualification
  • First level degree
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent level of training plus experience
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of the RCN rheumatology competency framework
  • Advanced physical assessment course
  • Recognised course relevant to speciality
