Main duties of the job

This position is offered at Band 6 for applicants who are registered Rehabilitation Engineers with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT).

However, we will also consider appointing an experienced Band 5 Rehabilitation Engineer who is eligible and committed to completing RCT registration.  You will be expected to complete the required training within the agreed timeframe, and progression from Band 5 to Band 6 will depend on successful RCT registration.

Please clearly indicate on your application whether you are applying for the Band 6 post or the Band 5–6 development role.

This role will involve being active within the clinics we run at Chailey. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, medics and fellow engineers.  You will jointly assess the complex clients we see and contribute to the design, development and manufacture of new equipment or the adaptation of existing solutions.  You will be an active member of the clinical team and provide technical expertise to support clinical decision making.

You will be responsible for managing any ongoing actions, producing technical plans, engineering drawings, generating prescriptions, gathering supplier quotes and preparing funding applications. You will need to keep track of all your ongoing work and ensure it is completed in a timely manner.
