Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a B3 Integrated Support Worker to support the delivery of our rehabilitation strategy for Intermediate Care Services at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This B3 role will support our nursing and therapy teams to provide high quality rehabilitation to patients accessing our service at Rye Memorial Hospital.

The ESHT Rehabilitation strategy is focused on improving the quality and performance of our acute and community services to deliver high quality rehabilitation across East Sussex. This is a dynamic and changing environment, and the strategy is working to support our staff, teams and the organisation as a whole to make meaningful changes that bring about improvements in rehabilitation for the benefit of our population. The role of the band 3 Integrated Support Worker is key in delivering our strategy.

Main duties of the job

To support the nursing and therapy teams to deliver rehabilitation over a 7 day working period.

To support patients to become more independent with daily tasks to include washing and dressing, continence and kitchen tasks.

To support patients with exercise programmes prescribed by a qualified therapist.

To support nursing with wound care and venepuncture tasks.

To support link roles associated with dementia, continence, nutrition and hydration, wound care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education, including English and Maths.
  • National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • Satisfactory General Education and evidence of additional training relevant to role.
Desirable criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in nursing or social care setting Customer care
  • Experience of working independently as well as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous community nursing and/or Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy experience
  • Experience of working in a community setting

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge of the NHS and healthcare
  • Knowledge of basic infection control principles
  • Awareness of health & safety issues in the working environment
  • Awareness of own skills & the requirements of the role
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding the principles of adult & child protection
