Paediatric Registered Nurses
NHS AfC: Band 5
Job overview
We are seeking enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our team of Registered Nurses to provide dynamic, high-quality family centred nursing care to Children, Young People and Babies.
Do you have a passion for working within a busy paediatric environment, providing fundamental, individualised nursing care based on holistic assessment of the child?
Would you like to develop your Paediatric nursing skills and progress as part of a well co-ordinated medical and nursing team, providing a high standard of care throughout each child/ young person's medical journey?
You will gain experience in caring for children with a variety of medical needs, as well as respiratory illnesses, diabetes, oncology, CAMHS, complex needs, neurological and level 1 critical care.
Children requiring more intensive care are transferred to our tertiary centres for their immediate treatment and then repatriated to us for on-going care until ready for discharge.
Whether you are a newly registered paediatric nurse or are a more experienced paediatric nurse, we would love to hear from you.
At ESHT we believe our workforce is our greatest asset and we endeavour to provide a comprehensive induction and preceptorship programme to support each individual in feeling valued and motivated within their role.
Main duties of the job
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of patient care, utilising research as appropriate within a team.
To communicate with a wide range of individuals, using a range of techniques, in a wide range of scenarios.
To communicate with children who may have barriers to understanding eg children with complex needs.
To ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children and their families, carers and visitors.
To provide a quality service for the child and family in accordance with the Children and Young People Charter and the ward philosophy eg a commitment to family centred care.
To act as patients advocate especially when conflicting opinion may alter the outcomes of care.
To work within the Trust policies, procedures and guidelines to assist in achieving the ward and directorate objectives.
To maintain up to date training in the use and maintenance requirements of any piece of clinical equipment used.
Working for our organisation
We are proud to provide ‘Outstanding’ care and be a great place to work
We provide safe, compassionate and high quality care to half a million people living or visiting East Sussex. We are one of the largest organisations in East Sussex, the only integrated provider of acute and community care in Sussex. Our extensive services are provided by 7000 + members of staff working from acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites and in people’s own homes.
In 2020 the Care Quality Commission rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being caring and effective. The Conquest Hospital and our Community Services are rated ‘Outstanding’. Eastbourne DGH rated ‘Good’.
In 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to repair, redevelop and expand our hospitals, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.
Like many other NHS organisations we are looking forward and thinking about how, by working closer across organisational boundaries, we can meet future challenges and improve the health outcomes for the people that we serve in East Sussex.
Our strategic aims:
Improving the health of our communities
Collaborating to deliver better care
