Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the delivery of the specialist orthopaedic physiotherapy to patients, working within the acute adult and paediatric wards, as part of an inter-professional team. 

Participate as a leader and member of the team, managing a clinical caseload within the clinical standards, guidelines, objectives and procedures of the team. 
This role will require weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rota basis.

To lead service improvement and delivery within the trauma and orthopaedic physiotherapy service.
Participate in health promotion and education of staff, patients and families.

The post holder will undertake regular Continual Professional Development (CPD) to support their lifelong learning and map their CPD Portfolio activities.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A BSc in Physiotherapy/post grad MSc Physiotherapy
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registered
  • Comprehensive record of CPD
  • Evidence of comprehensive CPD to Masters level or equivalent experience, knowledge and skills.
  • Postgraduate: higher level learning. MSc modules/PG certs/diplomas in clinically relevant specialist area
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership qualification/ training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant amount of post-graduate experience
  • Extensive experience within area of speciality
  • Developing and appraising staff
  • Delivering services along evidence based guidelines
  • Leading student placements, and scoring performance
  • Leading on audit/ service review linked with strategic objectives
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Service Development
  • Experience of working within an MDT within acute and community setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Expert clinical skills within area of speciality
  • Knowledge of the national agenda for relevant clinical pathways
  • Understanding of the strategic direction of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
  • Experience of developing staff
  • Able to operationally lead on the delivery of services within a high pressure service, and during times of variable demand, with support as required
