Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Band 6 Senior Theatre Practitioner who would like to develop their leadership and management skills and practice.  This post is within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Team though the successful  applicant will be expected to work across all specialities when required. You will be a  flexible and adaptable leader with high standards and attention to detail.  Our specialities are a combination of Trauma and Orthopaedics, ENT, Obstetrics, General surgery, Breast Surgery, Gynae. as a department.

You must be committed to providing excellent standards of patient care with good communication skills.

 Candidates need to show professionalism, maturity, reliability,  and be highly motivated individuals seeking a challenge in a busy environment. 

The theatre department is committed to offering a first rate service and supporting staff development.  You will receive ongoing support from our practice educators and continuing professional development along with opportunities to enhance your experience. You will also be responsible for supporting, mentoring and developing  junior staff.

Main duties of the job

To support the Department Matrons/Deputy Leads in maintaining an efficient and effective service delivering safe patient care within an environment that promotes a responsive approach to changing healthcare needs.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
  • Mentorship Preceptorship Course /ENB 998
  • Evidence of relevant CPD/Revalidation documents
  • Multi skilled competencies within the Operating Theatres
Desirable criteria
  • Educated to degree level
  • Management/leadership course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Two years experience as a Registered Practitioner within Theatres demonstrating areas of responsibility and management.
  • Multi skilled competencies within the Operating Theatres.
  • Experience in leading a clinical area/operating sessions.
  • Risk assessor training & experience
