Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker in the General Outpatient Department at Conquest Hospital. We are seeking a full time experienced Clinical Support Worker who is an excellent team player with a reliable work record.

The Outpatient Service is the shop window of the Trust that aims to provide a service that is patient focused, with an emphasis on quality and efficiency. 

This role would suit someone who is; proactive, embraces change, has high standards, is well organised, is an excellent communicator and enjoys being part of a large clinical team and learning new skills.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Support Worker will contribute fully as a member of the nursing team, and be effective in the smooth running of the department.

The CSW will work closely with the team, including junior staff and students, providing supervision as required.

This post would also suit a Clinical Support Worker who is looking to develop their career by considering training for Band 4 Nursing Associate.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths
  • Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • 5 GCSE grade 4 or C and above or equivalent
  • Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
  • Education and training to NVQ level 3/Work based diploma or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience of working in Health or Social Care Environment delivering personal care
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant experience working in the NHS

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work under instruction from a Registered Professional without direct supervision and support
  • Digital Skills, use of systems and ability to use physiological recording equipment and record findings
  • Good communication skills and ability to document care episode or event on digital systems or written
  • Ability to undertake vital observations and recognise any concerns that require escalation to a registered professional
  • Ability to demonstrate Care and Compassion and Commitment to/for patients and carers
  • A clear desire to work in a care environment and understanding of role
  • Able to maintain information confidentially
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of development of knowledge and skills relevant to role
  • Training and competence in clinical tasks relevant to role ie. Cannulation, wound care, ECG
