Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our booking office to be based at Conquest Hospital within the Outpatient Booking Service.   

Main duties of the job

The department provides a fast and responsive outpatient, appointment booking service.  The applicant will be expected to ring and agree dates with our patients as well as performing a rostered telephone session, depending on the service needs, of the department and which hospital site you are based at. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, IT knowledge, and an ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team, working to strict deadlines.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Ability to undertake additional training on departmental IT and manual systems
  • Computer literate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous admin and clerical experience in a busy office environment or similar skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience and understanding of a Patient Administration System (PAS)
  • Customer care skills and experience, preferably within a healthcare environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of IT systems
  • Able to work in a pressurised environment
Desirable criteria
  • An awareness of Government Access Targets
  • Ability to control a conversation with a difficult or emotional patient.
