Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ultrasound Radiology Department Assistant (Band 3) to join our friendly and professional ultrasound team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

This key role supports the smooth, safe and efficient running of the Ultrasound Department across our three locations: Conquest Hospital, Eastbourne District General Hospital and the Bexhill Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated team player with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will work closely with sonographers, radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and administrative support within a busy ultrasound department.

Main duties of the job

You’ll assist with a variety of ultrasound and interventional examinations, help prepare and maintain clinical areas, and ensure patients feel comfortable and well-informed throughout their visit. You’ll also act as a chaperone for both sonographers and Consultant Radiologists across general and Obstetric ultrasound lists and provide reassurance and support to patients during sometimes sensitive or complex scans. Additionally, you will assist in the administrative aspects of the department including preparation of the ultrasound rooms, management of stock, booking of ward patients and performing departmental audit for clinical governance.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same – you’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team and well-established team, developing your clinical skills and making a real difference to patients’ experiences within our ultrasound service.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work. The core operating hours of the department are:

  • Eastbourne District General Hospital - 0830 til 1630 (30 minute lunch)
  • The Conquest Hospital - 0830 til 1700 (1 hour lunch due to consultant clinics)
  • Bexhill Community Diagnostic Centre - 0900 til 1700 (30 minute lunch)
