Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Migration Lead who will be responsible for the development of highly complex bespoke data extracts and system interfaces. The main focus of the role will be to support the EmPoweR programme, which will bring a full Electronic Patient Record (EPR) to our acute services.

Leading a small team, the post holder will need to use expert judgement in the analysis and interpretation of highly complex data and be responsible for the architectural design, implementation, monitoring and fault resolution for the data migration extracts and clinical system interfaces.

The post is being offered as an 18 month secondment/fixed-term and will be based at Conquest Hospital with opportunities for home/flexible working.

Main duties of the job

Our ideal candidate will have at least five years' experience of implementing and supporting enterprise level Data Warehouses (preferably SQL Server), together with experience of using Visual Studio in a commercial environment (ideally a healthcare setting) and experience of interfacing highly complex datasets between bespoke systems both in real time and as batch processing.

They will have in-depth knowledge of SSIS, XML, HL7, ODBC and C#, be able to provide expert advice on highly complex digital issues and communicate clearly and concisely to both clinical and non-clinical staff.  Previous experience of managing a team would also be an advantage.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Master's degree in a computing related field
  • Evidence on ongoing professional development
  • In-depth knowledge of database design, installation and maintenance, data migration techniques, and relevant technologies/ languages to master’s degree level
Desirable criteria
  • Microsoft Certified
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Project Management (preferably Prince 2).

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 5 years’ experience implementing and supporting enterprise level Data Warehouses (preferably SQL Server)
  • At least 3 years’ experience of technical/architect leadership of a development team
  • Experience of using Visual Studio in a commercial environment
  • Experience of interfacing highly complex datasets between bespoke systems both in real time and as batch processing
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using Visual Studio in a Healthcare environment either within the NHS or private sector.
  • Experience of interfacing highly complex datasets between bespoke healthcare systems in real time.
  • Experience of extracting, manipulating and presenting highly complex healthcare datasets.
  • Experience of installing and working with SQL Server Reporting Services.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • In-depth knowledge of the following technologies/ languages: SSIS, XML, HL7, ODBC, C#
  • In-depth knowledge of database design, installation and maintenance (preferably SQL Server)
  • Strong understanding of Object Orientated (OO) software development principles including classes and interfaces
Desirable criteria
  • Able to use various reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects or SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Has used Content Management Systems
